A living piece of disappearing craft.
This ikebana flower basket is entirely handcrafted by skilled artisans using natural purple bamboo, finished with a traditional Japanese lacquer-dipping technique that has been passed down through generations. As fewer craftspeople carry on this tradition, each piece quietly becomes more than a decorative object — it becomes a collectible.
The deep, lustrous finish is achieved through an ancient lacquer-immersion process, giving the surface a smooth, rich patina that is both beautiful and protective. Unlike painted finishes, this method penetrates the bamboo fibers, dramatically extending the life of the piece while preserving its natural warmth.
The circular iron ring frame cradles a hand-woven bamboo basket at its base — a design rooted in the Japanese Sogetsu and Ohara schools of ikebana, where the vessel is as intentional as the arrangement itself.
When you hold this piece, you hold the hands of the craftsman who made it.
