Hand-thrown in the Mitsumi「三角」 area of Kumamoto, Japan, this Bizen ware tokkuri captures the quiet depth of unglazed clay.
Measuring 13 cm in height, 8.2 cm in width, and 3.6 cm across the mouth, it balances the form of a sake vessel with the grace of a flower vase.
Fired for over ten days in a traditional wood-burning kiln, the piece bears natural ash deposits and subtle iron traces characteristic of the Mitsumi firing tradition.
Every nuance of its surface — the earthen sheen, the faint fire shadows — emerged naturally from the kiln, not by glaze or pigment.
Whether used for warm sake in winter or as a quiet flower vessel, it reflects the Japanese wabi-sabi spirit — beauty in stillness and impermanence.
A one-of-a-kind, preserved in its original condition, representing the harmony of earth, fire, and time.
