This Kishu lacquer tray is crafted through the ancient ‘nuri-mono’ process: 20+ layers of vermillion and black urushi, hand-polished to reveal glimpses of the underlying hue—like sunlight piercing through night. Each stroke follows the wood’s natural grain, where knots and textures become part of the story, not flaws to hide.
